How to Recreate the 90s

The 2020s suck. Objectively. It's not your imagination.

This list is less about nostalgia and more about living in the moment and romanticizing life.

  • Use an alarm clock instead of your phone to wake up.
  • Leave your phone in another room for hours on end or maybe the whole day.
  • Go for a late night drive with the music up loud. Bonus: Bring a friend or two. Sing along to your favorites!
  • Listen to a whole album from start-to-finish. Check out its album art, too. If you don't have the physical media, see if you can find the album art here.
  • Take a long walk with headphones on, but don't text or call anyone. *But also* be aware of your surroundings. I'd suggest only doing this during the day.
  • Make art for no reason. It can be terrible, and that's ok. Do it for yourself, for the experience.
  • Decorate your place with anything you like and don't worry about whether things match perfectly. It might look like your personality exploded in the middle of that room and hit every wall.
  • Let yourself be bored. Some of the best ideas come to you while you're bored. It's okay to rest and do nothing now and then.
  • Buy physical media, or at least keep your own media files on a disk. That way, nobody can suddenly take your favorite media away from you.
